The new Spring Mills High School in northern Berkeley County, WV opens on schedule in August of 2013!

Mar 15, 2015

This state-of-the-art facility is located just east of the same interchange of I-81 (Exit 20, Spring Mills) as the Spring Mills Towne Center and Spring Mills Towne Center North shopping areas developed by Panhandle Homes’ parent company, Panhandle Builders. And, it is adjacent to a residential area also developed by Panhandle Homes, Hammond’s Mill, where the Hammonds Mill towns and villas are located. This high school is one of the newest examples of the ever-increasing construction activity surrounding this interchange.

Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County, builder of a wide variety of Martinsburg new homes and Berkeley County homes for sale, offers residential housing in 5 separate area developments, all of which will be in this new Spring Mills High School district.

A part of the Spring Mills Educational Campus, this ultra-modern facility is the 4th and final school on the campus and follows the earlier openings of Potomack Elementary, Spring Mills Primary and Spring Mills Middle School, which just opened in the fall of 2012.

With a capacity 1500 students, enrollment is expected to reach 1200 during the 2014-2015 school year. Each and every one of these students at Spring Mills High School will have access to the most up-to-date technology and unlimited opportunities for academic growth and “excellence in education”, the goal of the Berkeley County School Board.

These students, both boys and girls, will also enjoy a full complement of sports activities in fall, winter and in spring – and those will be as varied as swimming, golf, soccer and cheerleading, in addition to other team sports such as basketball, football, and cross country, to mention a few. An 8-lane track and football stadium have also been completed.

This outstanding facility also includes dedicated areas for art, drama, dance, fitness, orchestra, band, and choir – and includes a state-of-the-art stage and auditorium.

With the August, 2013 opening of this new school, the Spring Mills Educational Campus will be complete, an achievement of which all Berkeley County, WV residents can be proud.

In an effort to meet the demands of a broad range of buyers currently in the new home market, Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County has expanded its available home styles to include the MORGAN I, MORGAN II and the GRACE. The MORGAN I is ideal for retirees who truly wish to simplify their lives by scaling down to a modestly-sized home style, but who want the open layout and feel of a more spacious structure. This is a 2-bedroom design that “lives large” thanks to its very open great room/island kitchen and dining room combination, as well as a master suite with “his” and “hers” closets and full bath. Add a guest bedroom/den, second full bath, separate laundry room and 2-car garage, and you have the ideal retiree home. However, for those with larger families, or empty nesters who also want added space for overnight visitors, or a hobby and craft area, or a second master suite, the MORGAN II provides this flexible space on its upper level, all fully finished to best meet the needs of the owner. And, the newest ranch plan, the GRACE, truly has it all! Over 1800 feet of beautifully-finished living space, with separated bedroom design, waiting to be tailored to suit the desires of each individual buyer. The GRACE includes an exceptionally spacious island kitchen and breakfast area (large enough to be used as formal dining room space), all open to the great room with cathedral ceiling. A flexible space adjacent to the great room may be completely open, or partially or fully partitioned, and used as a formal dining room, study or den, playroom, even an extra bedroom. And, have your large master suite bath as you like it: large shower, only, or shower and separate soaking tub, compartmented or open commode area, 35” vanity height, and linen closet. Other features of this outstanding design include covered front and rear porches, a distinct foyer, separate laundry room, walk-in closets in both guest bedrooms, and an over-sized two-car garage. Who could ask for more!?

Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County’s single-level home entry is chosen as the 1st place winner in its category in the 2016 Best in WV competition sponsored by the Homebuilders’ Association of West Virginia. Based on quality of construction and design of the entry, this winner represented the very best in single-level living: a wonderfully-open floorplan today’s market demands, privacy for owners, as well as visitors provided by the separated bedroom arrangement, oversized master suite with buyer’s choice of shower and/or separate tub, as well as compartmented commode area, 35” double bowl vanity and linen closet. An island kitchen open to the great room, seated dining space, and separate laundry room complete this design. Add a two-car garage, covered front and rear porches, and a maintenance-free exterior, all of a level homesite, and there’s no question as to why this entry took home the gold. Designs similar to this winning entry in a variety of sizes and layouts are available from Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County in more than one of its neighborhoods located in WV’s Eastern Panhandle. Shown accepting the award are Justin Henry, COO & Allen Henry, President.

The Martinsburg-Berkeley County Public Library North Berkeley Branch has found a new place to call home, thanks to a donation of a 2-acre parcel of land by Allen Henry and David Henry, president and vice president of Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County. The Henry’s donated the land, which is directly beside City National Bank along the entrance to Spring Mills development off of W.Va. 901, during a Martinsburg Public Library Commission meeting. Henry, who said he has been using the library since he was a boy, said the library is a “critical need in the community,” with the new development of homes and schools occurring around Spring Mills. “We wanted to give back to the community,” Henry said. “Our community has been great to us by keeping us busy for the last 22 years.” Commission member Steve Cox, senior vice president for commercial lending at Centra Bank, said the value of the donated land is approximately $600,000 for the 2-acre parcel. Library Commission President Mary Boyd Kearse thanked Henry, adding that “this land is very suitable for building the library. It’s wonderful (Henry) has done this for the community.
